Fall 2023 is the first semester when MFE-IM is an official PSFC group, and we start the academic year welcoming new graduate students, postdocs and visiting students!
The MFE Integrated Modeling (MFE-IM) “interest group” started in the Fall of 2021 as an informal gathering of researchers, postdocs and students to discuss research and progress in several different areas of tokamak modeling. Meetings run for three semesters and members engaged in discussions about various research topics, tutorials were provided and external speakers were invited to present.
The MFE-IM group was officially recognized as a PSFC research group in June 2023, signifying a strong commitment to developing a skilled workforce of students and researchers capable of comprehending the physics of tokamak plasmas in an integrated manner and providing reliable predictions for future experiments and power plants. This recognition is a testament to the group’s dedication to advancing the field of fusion energy and integrated simulations of fusion devices.
